Renovation
In
December of 2002 the property at 701 East Columbia Street in Springfield
was purchased to house all of the Clark County operations for Springfield
Catholic Social Services in one location. This was the former location
of Pentaflex Inc. Renovation work for this
62,000 square foot facility is divided into four phases. The first
phase, involving renovation for the administrative offices previously
located on East High Street, was completed in April of 2003. The
second phase,
involving a new food pantry and office area, reception area, and
classroom space for the Work Experience Program has been completed.
The future phase three and four work will involve structural repairs
to the floor areas throughout the food warehouse, new office space
for the warehouse and other associated interior and exterior improvements.
Funds for this renovation work
has been achieved through donations and gifts from individuals,
corporate and foundation sources. Two significant grants have been
allocated from federal government appropriations in the amount
of $178,830 and $300,000 earmarked for the renovation work. Congressman
Dave Hobson and his staff have been essential in assisting with
the federal appropriations.
